The Australian Curling Federation's mission is to lead, develop, and promote the sport of Curling in Australia. They provide support to individual State Associations and grassroots efforts to advance the sport, while also providing a pathway for curlers to compete at national and international events, including the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games.
The history of curling in Australia dates back to 1933 when the first curling club was formed in Melbourne. It disbanded in 1939 but reemerged in 1984, forming international links with the International Curling Federation, now known as the World Curling Federation, in 1986. Australia first competed internationally in Oslo, Norway in 1990.
In 1993, the Australian Curling Federation was established as the national governing body for the sport in Australia. James Oastler served as the inaugural president, with three state members: New South Wales, South Australia, and Victoria. Over the years, the federation has grown with the addition of two new member associations: the Queensland Curling Association in 2005 and Curling WA in 2014.
Today, the Australian Curling Federation has representative National Teams in various disciplines, including Men's, Women's, Junior Men's, Junior Women's, Mixed Doubles, Mixed, Senior Men's, and Senior Women's. Curling is available in four locations across Australia: Brisbane, Perth, Sydney, and Melbourne.
