The Merimbula Sailboard Club, founded in 1980, is a thriving sports club in the coastal town of Merimbula, Australia. It was established by a group of enthusiastic local wave sailors, many of whom remain active members to this day. The club is dedicated to promoting and enjoying the exhilarating sports of sailboarding and windsurfing in the picturesque waters of Merimbula.
The Merimbula Sailboard Club organises two major events each year that are eagerly anticipated by water sports enthusiasts. The first is the Merimbula Classic, which takes place annually in November. This event has a rich history, with the first edition being held in 1981, making it the longest-running event of its kind globally. The second major event organised by the club is the Malibu competition, held every May. We run sailing and wave-focused events, including the Merimbula Classic in November and the Malibu comp in May each year.
For the Raging Bull Merimbula PenneMal on 2 May 2026, competitors meet at Main Beach, Merimbula from 7:00am, with a presentation at the Main Beach sheds from 6:00pm.
Entry is $70 for adults and $50 for juniors, and includes a Stan Squire designed T-shirt plus an all day BBQ feast.
