Welcome to the Canberra Vikings Cycling Club, a sports club that caters to and supports road cyclists of all levels. Located in Canberra, we are passionate about cycling and are dedicated to fostering a friendly and inclusive cycling community.
At Vikings, we believe in the value of participation, enthusiasm, and contribution. While we celebrate our members' successes in races, we equally emphasise the importance of welcoming riders of all abilities and backgrounds. Whether you're a beginner cyclist or a professional rider racing on the UCI World Tour, there is a place for you at Vikings Cycling Club.
As an affiliated club with AusCycling, Vikings members have the opportunity to participate in road, track, and mountain bike racing events organised by any AusCycling affiliated clubs in the ACT or elsewhere in Australia. This affiliation opens up a wide range of racing opportunities for our members, allowing them to challenge themselves and take part in competitive events.
Since our establishment in 1996, Vikings Cycling Club has developed a unique riding culture centred around several core principles. Firstly, we have a love for both racing and recreational riding. Secondly, we prioritise safety on the roads and adhere to traffic rules, including stopping at red lights.
We are dedicated to supporting anyone who wants to ride with us, regardless of their ability or background. We actively introduce new people to the sport and provide them with opportunities to learn and grow as riders. Our commitment to honesty and openness in our interactions with members, authorities, and other clubs is central to our values.
One of our key objectives is to contribute to the diversity of racing opportunities in the ACT. We welcome members from other clubs at our events, fostering a sense of camaraderie and encouraging collaboration in the cycling community. Our success in developing hundreds of riders, including juniors, masters, and athletes with disabilities, who now enjoy cycling at various levels, is a testament to the effectiveness of our inclusive approach.
Vikings Cycling Club acknowledges and respects the Traditional Custodians of the ACT, the Ngunnawal People. We pay our respects to Elders past and present and recognise the ongoing contribution that they make to the community and the region.
