Ten-pin bowling requires the bowler to roll the bowling ball down a wood or synthetic lane toward ten pins positioned at the far end of the lane. The lanes are 60 feet in length from the foul line to the centre of the head pin. One point is scored for each pin that is knocked over. When all ten pins are knocked down it is called a strike (all pins knocked down after first attempt), or a spare (all pins knocked down after second attempt).
