ACT Fly Fishers

Welcome to the ACT Fly Fishers! Founded in 1978, we are a sports club based in Canberra that caters specifically to the needs and interests of fly fishers in the ACT and surrounding region. Our mission is to increase knowledge of the many and diverse aspects of fly-fishing, and in doing so, enhance our members' enjoyment of the sport.

At ACT Fly Fishers, we have a diverse range of members with varying skill levels, ranging from absolute beginners to national champions. We are proud to be members of the NSW Council of Freshwater Anglers and have established affiliations with various retail outlets, accommodation providers, and other sporting groups.

As a club, we offer a wide range of activities and benefits to our members. We hold meetings twice a month, featuring guest speakers or skills demonstrations to further enrich our members' knowledge and expertise. We also provide a monthly journal called Flylines, which delivers valuable freshwater and saltwater fly-fishing information.

One of the highlights of being a member of the ACT Fly Fishers is the regular organised fishing outings we arrange. These outings give our members the opportunity to explore different fishing locations and bond with fellow anglers who share the same passion.

For those looking to improve their fly casting skills, we offer fly casting clinics, where experienced members provide tuition and guidance. Members can also take advantage of our fly tying instruction sessions, where they can learn the art of creating their own flies.

ACT Fly Fishers takes pride in its extensive DVD and book library, which is available exclusively to our members. This resource provides invaluable information on various fishing techniques and streamcraft, allowing members to continuously expand their knowledge base.

To foster community and ensure active communication, we have a thriving Facebook group where members can connect, ask questions, and share their experiences with fellow fly fishers.
