Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art which was created so that the practitioners could use it to defend themselves while also protecting the attackers from injury. The techniques involves entering, turning, and various types of throws and joint locks. There are both mental and physical aspects of training which include controlled relaxation, flexibility, controlled movement of joints and endurance. The training is based on two partners practicing pre-arranged forms.
