Caboolture Gliding Club

The Caboolture Gliding Club, located halfway between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, is a sports club in Brisbane offering a one-of-a-kind experience of silent flight with stunning coastal scenery below and all around. Easily accessible by a 45-minute drive from either direction or by suburban train followed by a short bus or car ride, the club is conveniently situated for both locals and visitors.

Known as Queensland's friendly club, the Caboolture Gliding Club welcomes individuals for a once-in-a-lifetime experience or to start their training for a Glider Pilot Certificate. With its warm and welcoming atmosphere, the club is ideal for anyone interested in gliding, regardless of their level of experience.

Currently, the club's tow aircraft is temporarily grounded due to airframe damage. Therefore, all club air operations have been temporarily suspended until further notice. However, existing Air Experience Flight bookings will be rescheduled, and affected customers will be contacted as soon as a confirmed date for the resumption of flying is available.

Gliding is a simple, enjoyable, and challenging form of flight that allows pilots to soar through the skies using only the natural elements. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced pilot, the Caboolture Gliding Club offers the opportunity to learn or further develop your skills with experienced instructors at any stage of life. The only requirements are a minimum age of 15 to fly solo (starting at 14 is ideal) and a maximum weight of 110 kilogrammes (100 kilogrammes practical limit).

If you're new to gliding and want to see if it's the right fit for you, the best way to get started is by taking an Air Experience Flight. During this flight, you'll get a feel for gliding and have the opportunity to touch the controls with an instructor guiding you through the basics. The club also offers group bookings on additional days, apart from its regular flying days of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

All flights at the Caboolture Gliding Club are launched by aerotow, with an experienced and specially endorsed pilot flying a power aircraft. The club does not use winch launch methods due to Caboolture Airfield's busy nature, which is shared by various aircraft, including gyrocopters and even a Mustang WW2 fighter.
