Welcome to the East Coast Taekwondo Academy, a renowned sports club located on the Central Coast of Australia. Established in 1988, the academy is committed to providing a family-oriented environment where students can learn and benefit from the traditional and sporting aspects of Taekwondo.
Taekwondo, meaning “the art of the foot and fist,” is a Korean martial art of self-defence. At ECTA, students have the opportunity to learn various elements of Taekwondo, including dynamic kicks, self-defence techniques, breaking techniques, joint locking, weaponry art, and much more. In addition to learning self-defence skills, Taekwondo offers a wide range of physical and mental benefits such as improved fitness, flexibility, strength, concentration, mental discipline, self-confidence, and respect.
At the East Coast Taekwondo Academy, the focus is not just on physical exercise or sport but also on enforcing moral standards and encouraging constant self-development. The academy offers classes at various locations for the convenience of its students. In the Central Coast region, training is conducted at venues like the Entrance Community Centre, Copacabana Public School, Umina Public School, East Gosford Public School, Terrigal Public School, Erina Woodport Public School, and Berkeley Vale Public School. In the North and Mid-North Coast region, classes take place at the Toukley Community Centre, Budgewoi Public School, Kanwal Public School, Lake Haven Recreation Centre, Lake Munmorah Public School, Kempsey East Public School, and Kempsey West Public School.
For those who prefer online tuition, the academy also offers virtual classes. All instructors at East Coast Taekwondo Academy are COVID Safe certified, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of their students.
