About

The Geelong Eight Ball Association, formerly known as the Geelong Pool Association, is the largest Victorian Country Association and the second largest in Australia. The association was established to include all hotels and clubs in the Geelong region and has since grown to become a prominent organisation in promoting and fostering the game of Eight Ball in Geelong and its surrounding areas.

The primary goal of GEBA is to nurture and promote Eight Ball in the local community. Over the years, the association has attracted teams from various hotels and clubs in the region, allowing players of all skill levels to participate. While the number of traditional hotels with pool tables has decreased, GEBA has managed to maintain a strong presence with 63 teams from 18 hotels/clubs competing in 7 divisions across 17 venues.

Managed by a 10-member committee, GEBA offers a diverse range of opportunities for players to showcase their skills. In addition to the regular 18-week home and away matches, players can participate in events such as the Doug Gill Memorial Singles, Ladies Singles, and the Colin Hood Challenge. The association has also achieved great success in the Country Cup, consistently performing well in the annual carnival.

GEBA is proud of its commitment to developing new talent and ensuring the future of Eight Ball in the region. The Geelong Juniors' Day provides an opportunity for young players, including children of current players and their friends, to experience the game and receive guidance from experienced members.

The strength of GEBA lies in its members, both old and new, who contribute their passion and commitment to the game. It is through their dedication and enthusiasm that the Wednesday night competition has flourished over the years. The association is immensely grateful for the support of its members and looks forward to many more years of exciting games and enjoyable experiences.
