Hazelwood Lodge is a sports club located in the Tumut Council area of Australia. Headed by the experienced and qualified riding instructor, Catherine Martindale, Hazelwood Lodge offers a wide range of equestrian activities and horse-related services.
Catherine Martindale brings years of riding experience to Hazelwood Lodge, having started riding at the young age of four. She was a member of the prestigious Cannibal Creek Pony Club for 16 years, competing at a high level from the age of 14. Catherine is now an active and successful participant in Equestrian Federation of Australia (EA) events, having achieved a NCAS Level 2 eventing specialist coach and coach educator status. She has competed up to 4-star level and has a deep understanding of preparing a team of horses for competition.
Currently, Catherine focuses on Dressage and competes regularly with her own homebred horses. Her extensive experience allows her to teach riders of all levels, from beginners to serious competitors.
Aside from her expertise in riding, Catherine also holds a Victorian Racehorse Trainer's licence, which required an additional 2 years of TAFE training. This enhances her knowledge of horse husbandry and handling skills, enabling her to provide a well-rounded coaching experience. Many of Catherine's students have entered the racing industry with a solid foundation and access to relevant industry tickets.
Hazelwood Lodge is situated on a beautiful 31-acre property in the Latrobe Valley. The club boasts state-of-the-art facilities, including a fully enclosed 65 × 25 m sand arena, an 800 m sand track, an undercover brick round yard, numerous covered day yards, and a horse wash area. These facilities provide a safe and supervised environment for riders to enhance their skills.
At Hazelwood Lodge, the focus is on creating a personalised approach for each individual. Riders are matched with horses or ponies based on their ability, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
