2-Day School Holiday Basketball Camp

The ‘Intermediate’ Camp is intended for players who are becoming more competent and confident in executing the fundamentals of basketball in trainings & games properly and under pressure. These players possess a moderate to above moderate level of experience playing organised basketball in schools, social leagues, associations and possibly in lower to mid-level divisions at district clubs. However, these players still have room for improvement. They are lacking in the consistent physical and/or mental application and execution of skills and gameplay. Our ‘Intermediate’ Camp will focus on both the refinement and improvement of each players fundamentals, as well as the introduction of new advanced skills for this level.

Our ‘Advanced’ Camp is purposed for kids with a high level of experience playing organised basketball in schools, leagues, clubs & tournaments. These kids own well-defined skills in one or multiple areas of the game while also possessing the physical and mental strengths that are essential to success. The advanced player is self-motivated to play and train 3-4 days per week and at times may train or practice twice in one day without hesitation. Advanced players are generally on the top teams at their school and/or district clubs and have identified basketball as their primary sport.

Below is a summary of the fundamentals that our players will learn and develop in skill, knowledge, and execution.

Day 1 - Drills, Skills & Gameplay

  • Combination Dribble Moves
  • Beating Pressure off the dribble
  • Passing under Pressure
  • Creating Space
  • Creating Leads (getting open with footwork)
  • Various Lay-up Techniques
  • Finishing at the Rim with contact
  • Shooting (Under pressure | Off screens | Locking in Free-throw Routines)
  • Offensive Transition (filling the lanes)
  • Defensively (Close-outs under control | Applying ball pressure | Turning & containing ball handler | Denying the pass | Help-side Defence | Defending without fouling)
  • Rebounding (Box Outs | Ball Protection | Outlet passes | Offensive rebounding)
  • Pass & Cut Series (Movement without the ball)
  • Learning Actions (Pick-n-Roll | Pick-n-Pop | Dribble Hand-offs | Hand-offs | Down-screens & Back-screens)
  • 1on1 (refining how, when & where to attack the player, player’s footwork & basket | creating shots off the dribble | the difference between a good shot & bad shot)
  • Advantage / Disadvantage Drills (2on1 | 3on2 | Learning how to recognize an advantage & attack | when to shoot & when to pass)
  • 2on2 \ 3on3 Drills (Learning how to put all the fundamentals together in modified games | Games under pressure with time, score & penalty situations)

 Day 2 – 4x4 Skills, Drills, Games & Tournament

4x4 basketball.. similar to 3x3, but played on a full-court, by using 4 players on each team, with 1-2 subs, will give players more space (because there’s less players on the court), time and opportunities to make basketball decisions at game speed and in game situations that directly transfer to 5x5 basketball.

4x4, is another configuration to help young players develop their individual and team skills in a fun and beneficial format.

The focal points of this 4x4 Camp will be Full-Court and Half-court Drills/Games focusing on the fundamentals of:

  • Offensive Transition (how to run/fill the lanes properly | how to create space | how to get in front of the ball | how to create passing lanes
  • Defensive Transition (how to get back and match-up | who to match-up too | how to pick up and contain the ball handler |
  • Half-court Offensive and Defensive plays/schemes
  • Knowledge of ‘when to shoot’ and ‘when to pass’ and the difference between a ‘good shot and a bad shot’
  • Learning the ‘Actions’ of the game and ‘how, when and where’ to execute them (Pick & Roll | Dribble Hand-offs | Hand-offs | Down, Back & Cross Screening, etc)
  • Small Modified games focusing on a specific action
  • ‘Time’ & ‘Score’ game situations
  • Learning how to play, ‘Without the basketball’, ‘Creating scoring opportunities without the basketball’ and ‘Making your teammates better.
