Council's dedicated aquatics and sports and recreation professionals are responsible for the planning and development of sport and recreation throughout the region and the coordination of aquatic services at council's five aquatic facilities: Bluewater Lagoon (Mackay), Memorial Swim Centre (Mackay), Pioneer Swim Centre (North Mackay) and the Sarina and Mirani Swim Centres. Whilst the sport & recreation staff are the one-stop-shop for all sport and recreation related matters, including planning, projects, club development and the promotion of physical activities, the aquatics team is responsible for the coordination of safe aquatic services to 500,000+ visitors who attend our facilities on an annual basis.
