The principal teacher and studio owner, Jazz Eastman, brings over three decades of teaching experience to his classes. Jazz's journey with yoga began in the early 70s when he started attending classes with a local yoga teacher in a small NSW country town. Since then, he has completed teacher training and in 1996 became a certified Iyengar yoga teacher. Jazz's teaching style has evolved over the years, influenced by his dedicated practise of Buddhist Insight meditation.
His classes focus on embodied presence and connecting with the felt sense of the body in yoga practise.
Clare, another experienced teacher at Newtown Yoga Room, started practising Iyengar yoga in 1995 at the studio with Jazz Eastman. In 2006, she became a certificated Iyengar Yoga teacher and continues to enhance her skills through ongoing professional development. As a registered midwife, Clare has a keen interest in the benefits of yoga during pregnancy and early parenting.
