The SSAA - Huon Combined Shooting Club Inc is a sports club located in the Huon Valley Council, in southern Tasmania. The club range is situated in the Forestry Tasmania forest area, to the west of Franklin.
To reach the club range, individuals coming from Hobart or Huonville should turn right into New Road in Franklin. It is important to note that the road to the range is gravel, narrow, winding, and uphill, with other traffic including forestry vehicles and log trucks. Therefore, it is essential to drive carefully. After approximately 6 km from Franklin, members will reach the forestry boomgate, which is currently open permanently.
Once through the gate, club signs will guide individuals for about 4. 5 km to the range.
Within the forest area, smoking is strictly prohibited, except in the designated area at the range. It is also recommended to maintain a maximum speed of 40kph when driving within the forest.
The range's GPS coordinates are 43o06'07. 35”S 146o55'08. 16”E. The club encourages new shooters to participate and provides necessary safety guidelines and support for their shooting activities.
During days of total fire ban in the region, the range is closed for safety purposes.
The Huon Combined Shooting Club is affiliated with the Sporting Shooters' Association of Australia (SSAA). As a member of the club, individuals can access various benefits and discounts offered by Southern Range Sports on general items. Additionally, Southern Range Sports provides a storage service for club members, although no discounts are applicable.
