Southern Boat Fishing Club (SBFC) is a well-established sports club based in Melbourne, Australia. Founded in 1984, the club aimed to create a small family-oriented community that participates in sport-fishing activities across Victoria and Australia. SBFC is affiliated with the Australian National Sport-fishing Association (ANSA) and actively participates in their conventions held throughout the year in Victoria.
The primary objective of SBFC is to foster a family-friendly environment that encourages friendly competition and ethical fishing practises. The club has achieved considerable success over the years, securing state titles in both senior and junior competitions within the ANSA alliance. In addition to ANSA events, SBFC also organises various club competitions and social events outside the ANSA convention syllabus.
Members of SBFC take great pride in their commitment to fishing for the family and the future. The club emphasises the importance of environmental awareness and sustainability to ensure the preservation of fish stocks for future generations. With this in mind, all members are encouraged to practise responsible fishing techniques.
Club meetings are held every 3rd Thursday of the month, and all interested individuals are welcome to attend and join. Meeting details can be found on the club's website or events page.
To become a member of SBFC, individuals can attend the club meetings held at Daintons Taphouse and Brewery in Carrum Downs. Club membership offers numerous benefits, including regular day and weekend fishing trips, participation in saltwater and freshwater fishing activities, as well as discounts from sponsors when purchasing fishing gear. Membership fees, which cover the period from August 31st to July 31st, are $80 for a family membership and $50 for a single membership. ANSA membership is also included in the fees.
