Albany Golf Course invites all golf enthusiasts to join us for an exciting local event! Located in Collingwood Park, this renowned eighteen-hole links style golf course offers a picturesque setting for players of all levels.
Originally established in 1898 with nine holes, Albany Golf Course was enlarged in the 1960s to become the remarkable course it is today. The idea for a golf links at Middleton Beach was proposed by an English golfer who had fallen in love with Albany. Thanks to the support of various leading citizens, the course was made possible with the help of government grants and involved costs such as land clearing, turf supply, and hole construction.
Although the course faced some early challenges, such as stray cattle and tree stumps, it quickly gained popularity among players. The dedication of our green keeper, Bob Jarvis, played a crucial role in maintaining the course's outstanding quality. The introduction of annual tournaments and the installation of a water supply for irrigation were just a couple of the improvements made over the years.
In 1927, plans were drafted to expand Albany Golf Course to 18 holes, showcasing the exceptional golfing territory Albany possesses. With its rich history and stunning landscape, our club continues to attract visitors from near and far, providing a rewarding golfing experience.
