Ancrum Karate School

A larger facility at “The Old Mill” on 23 Brown Street in Dundee. Ancrum Karate School has since become a well-established and highly respected martial arts school in the area.

The Chief Instructor of Ancrum Karate School is Jim Fraser, who holds a 5th Dan Black Belt and is a member of the World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (W. A. K. O).

With his vast experience and expertise, students can be assured that they are receiving top-notch instruction from the best in the field.

Ancrum Karate School offers classes for a range of age groups and skill levels. Their Karate Tots programme is tailored specifically for 3 to 6-year-olds, providing a fun and safe environment for them to develop coordination, discipline, and confidence. Karate Kids classes are designed for 7 to 12-year-olds and are offered on Saturdays, as well as Mondays and Thursdays. Teenagers and adults can join the Senior Karate programme, which has classes on Monday and Thursday evenings.

In addition to their exceptional instruction, Ancrum Karate School is also a stockist of high-quality martial arts equipment from brands such as Blitz, Bytomic, and Cimac. They offer a wide range of karate suits in various sizes and prices, ensuring that students have the right gear for their training. Students can learn the use of weapons such as nunchaku, tonfa, sai, and bo staff. Ancrum Karate School takes pride in its rich history. Sensei Jim Fraser achieved his black belt in 1967 and began teaching at the Ancrum Activities Centre on April 6th, 1969. He then established Dundee's first professional karate school and martial arts shop in the Seagate in 1981. In 2012, the school moved to its current location at “The Old Mill” on 23 Brown Street, expanding its facilities and continuing its mission to provide excellent martial arts instruction to the community.
