The Appaloosas & Australian Spotted Ponies Inc. Pony Club competition is a highly anticipated event organised by the Horse Riding club located in Duns Creek. Held throughout the year, it is the favourite competition of the High Point Officer, adding to the excitement surrounding it.
To participate in the competition, riders must have their horse or pony registered with A&ASP Inc. and be current financial members. And here's the best part – there is no cost to enter! That's right, it's completely free. All riders need to do is ride their beloved Appaloosa or Australian Spotted Pony at a Pony Club rally or competition to gain valuable points.
The entry process is simple. Riders can download the entry forms from the Forms & Fees page, fill out the necessary information, and bring the completed sheets with them to all the rallies and competitions they attend. On the day of the event, an official will sign the sheets, ensuring the points are recorded accurately.
Points are awarded for attendance, but additional points are given for placings, making every effort count towards victory. At the end of the competition year, which runs from 1st July to 30th June, participants need to return the forms to A&ASP Inc. The accumulated points will be calculated, and prizes will be awarded during the Annual General Meeting in August.
The Pony Club competition is divided into two sections, catering to various equestrian disciplines and interests. The first section encompasses PC rallies, dressage, show jumping, horse trials, combined training days, and hicksteads. These events ensure a dynamic and diverse experience for all participants. The second section is dedicated to special events, including novelties, games, and navigation rides, injecting extra fun into the competition.
To level the playing field and foster fair competition, the competition is further divided by age and breed. Riders can compete in one of the four divisions: Appaloosa rider 14 years and over, Appaloosa rider under 14 years, Australian Spotted Pony rider 14 years and over, and Australian Spotted Pony rider under 14 years. Trophies are awarded to the first-place winner in each division for each section, amounting to a total of 8 trophies annually. Additionally, certificates are awarded to sixth place, recognising the effort and dedication of all participants. And let's not forget the ultimate prize – the rider with the most points overall wins a $100 cash prize!
