Train in HEMA, Historical European Martial Arts, with Auckland Sword and Shield in Takapuna, Auckland. This sword fighting club studies historical training manuals from the 12th to 19th centuries and learns practical techniques using weapons including swords, spears, polearms, daggers, grappling and pugilism, plus sabre and rapier. Sessions run in periodic blocks and, after graduating from the beginner class, club members can train in a wide range of historical styles. Membership is restricted to those over 18.
