Banstead Snooker & Billiards

Established way back in 1907 as part of the Banstead Institute Men's Club, the club might be a bit hidden, but it offers a peaceful and welcoming spot for snooker and billiards fans. It boasts three top-notch full-size tables for members to enjoy.

Junior memberships for those aged 14-18 are an option too, just ask about it if interested. The club’s journey started in 1907, with a committee keen on building an “institute and parish room” next to All Saints Church. Initially a working men's club, it faced challenges during World War I but bounced back and even expanded its facilities in 1922.

Over the years, the club has seen various activities from billiards and darts to social events and dances. Snooker was added in 1934 but only gained traction later. World War II saw part of the club’s facilities being used by the police, fire service, and Canadian troops. Post-war, the club's finances improved, allowing for the addition of a third table. Today, it operates as a non-profit, dedicated to providing a friendly and relaxed environment for snooker and billiards enthusiasts.

The club has had a steady presence in the Epsom and District Billiards and Snooker League since it started. While currently at full membership, interested folks can still reach out via email at enquiries@bansteadsnooker.org to inquire about future openings. Booking a table? Just use their online system through the club’s website, but do book in advance. When visiting, remember no more than ten members are allowed in the clubroom simultaneously, and don’t forget to register entry with your access card.
