For pregnant women who have received clearance from their obstetrician or doctor to exercise after their 12-week scan, Bumps Pilates provides a safe and effective workout. The classes can also be started 6 weeks after a vaginal delivery or 8 weeks after a caesarian section, with approval from your obstetrician or doctor.
To truly reap the benefits, attending regular Bumps Pilates classes is encouraged. The body goes through rapid changes during pregnancy, and these classes can help you navigate these changes with ease. Most participants find that attending 1–2 times per week complements their other exercise routines perfectly.
To join a Bumps Pilates class, simply bring along the completed medical registration form, which can be found on the home page of the Bumps Pilates website. We recommend wearing comfortable exercise clothing and bringing along a water bottle to keep hydrated during each class.
If you have private health insurance with physiotherapy coverage, you may be able to claim the Bumps Pilates classes. Group physio exercise classes (item #561) are typically eligible for coverage, but it's possible that you may need an initial assessment (item #500) before being able to claim the group classes. Additionally, antenatal classes (Item #595) and postnatal classes (#596) may also be eligible for coverage. We strongly advise reaching out to your health insurance company to confirm if these classes are covered and to request an itemised receipt after each class.
Booking or cancelling a Bumps Pilates class is a breeze with the Mind Body Booking Site. Remember to book or cancel with at least 6 hours' notice to avoid any charges. To make things even easier, you can download the Mind Body app on your phone for a seamless booking experience. If you have any musculoskeletal issues, such as back pain or pelvic pain, please don't hesitate to inform the physiotherapist at the class. They can provide modifications to accommodate women with such issues.
If you find yourself unable to use all of your class passes during pregnancy, don't fret! Any remaining passes can be used when you return for postnatal classes.
