About
Carne Golf Links is located on the remote and rugged Mullet Peninsula, along the Wild Atlantic Way in North West County Mayo, Ireland. The course is set in magnificent, unspoiled sand dunes that stretch 150 metres above sea level, offering breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean across Blacksod Bay and the legendary islands of Inis Glire and Inis Gidhe.
Designed by the late Eddie Hackett, Carne Golf Links features eighteen challenging holes that respect the natural landscape, with tees and greens that occurred naturally with minimal earth moving involved in construction. Carne was the last course designed by Hackett and is considered his most challenging.
In 2013, a further nine holes were opened on the most dramatic part of the dunescape, known as the Kilmore Nine. Designed by Jim Engh and Ally McIntosh, these new holes integrate seamlessly with the original Hackett course, creating the Wild Atlantic Dunes course. This course is arguably one of the most spectacular links courses in Ireland, showcasing the raw and untamed beauty of the landscape.
Carne Golf Links offers traditional raw links golf at its best in a unique and idyllic location. Golfers of all skill levels can enjoy the challenging fairways and sand traps, making it a memorable golfing experience not to be missed.
