Cemetery Boulder

Cemetery Boulder, located near the Vine Inn in Sheffield, is a popular rock climbing destination. Built in 2006 and designed by Al Williams, it is considered one of the best boulders in Sheffield. Unlike many others, Cemetery Boulder is generally steeper with smaller holds, although it is not as angular as the Heeley Sheaf Boulder. It retains many of the pockets and pinches that adorn the Heeley Original Boulder.

The main feature of Cemetery Boulder is the Prow, which is easily recognisable when approaching from Cemetery Road. To the right of the Prow is the main face, which has an overhang to the right capped by a smaller prow. On the left side of the Prow, there is a small overhang, followed by the Backside of the boulder, which features a pillar before a descent.

The Vine Inn, a classic climbers pub that was often the scene of many good nights and after parties, unfortunately no longer exists and has been converted into flats. However, Cemetery Boulder remains a popular climbing spot for enthusiasts in Sheffield.

Cemetery Boulder is part of the Sheffield Boulders community resource, which documents various artificial boulders located within parks in Sheffield. These boulders vary in sizes and styles, catering to climbers of different skill levels. They are free to use and provide a great alternative to indoor climbing walls, especially on days with nice weather or when there isn't enough time for a trip to the Peak District.
