Cheersport is our introduction to cheerleading for brand new athletes. It is a step up from recreational class commitment as the kids in the 'team' will train together weekly not only to develop personal skills but also learn a routine choreographed just for them! They will perform to a pumping music track that helps lead the students through the routine showcasing all the skills they have developed as the season progresses.
The most exciting part is they compete in a division just for first time "new" athletes against other club teams both in the Mackay event (June) and one time away in Brisbane (Oct) so the kids have a chance to attend a large cheerleading championship and see what competitive cheer is really all about. With rockstar lighting and atmosphere they will perform their routine and feel like superstars before getting to sit in the crowd and cheer on our other adrenalin teams.
This team trains Saturdays from 10.45-12.15pm with Coach Holly. Their session begins with the beginner tumbling class which will aim to develop and teach some basic tumbling skills they can show off with the following hour being just their team working on stunts, jumps, dance, pyramids and sequences for their routine.
We put together a low cost uniform (last year was black bike pants and crop top from kmart) and we printed them a special shirt and matching bow. It's a super fun way to make the most of the sport whilst letting the kids enjoy showing off a little!
