The Clyde Cruising Club (CCC) is not just a sailing club, but a community that supports cruising along the Clyde, the West Coast, and the Northern Isles of Scotland. With its well-renowned CCC Sailing Directions, it ensures that members can enjoy and navigate one of the finest cruising grounds in the world safely. The club organises musters and races, some of which form series throughout the season for boats cruising these waters.
Located at Bardowie Loch, the club facilities provide excellent training opportunities for dinghy and powerboat activities in Scotland. The loch's proximity to Glasgow and its sheltered conditions have enabled many beginners to learn and progress to racing in dinghies. As members gain experience, they may choose to crew on keelboats and take part in the Scottish Series, the largest keelboat event in Scotland. Additionally, the Scottish Series often serves as the framework for the IRC Scottish Championships.
Even when members are not on the water, the Clyde Cruising Club offers Winter Meets where renowned sailors share their knowledge and expertise with club members. This creates a vibrant and connected community where like-minded individuals can share their love for sailing and build strong bonds.
To be a club means to provide opportunities for mutual activities among like-minded people. With its broad range of activities, geographical reach, and a large membership, the Clyde Cruising Club truly stands at the heart of Scottish sailing. The club welcomes all sailing enthusiasts and encourages them to explore the various activities and benefits it offers.
Under the new leadership of the Commodore, the club seeks to evolve and adapt to the changing times. As work and communication have become more electronic and automated, the club has embraced remote working and a fully mobile office. This shift has not only lifted financial burdens but also improved race management. The implementation of a new IT system has automated many manual processes, streamlining club operations.
Looking ahead, the club aims to gather the opinions of its members to chart its future course. While there is much the CCC and its membership have accomplished, the club is open to new ideas and ambitions. Whether it's organising more cruises in company, facilitating big boat/small boat crossover days, expanding youth activities, venturing into blue-water cruises, or enhancing races, the club values members' input and seeks their involvement in making these aspirations a reality.
To achieve these goals, the club relies on volunteers. While some long-serving committee members have stepped down, their contributions are deeply appreciated. The club encourages members to consider volunteering and taking on organising or leadership roles. Together, the CCC community can shape the club's future and continue its legacy of excellence.
