Danceworks Sydney, the local ballet club in Newtown, is hosting an exciting Ballet event that is sure to capture the interest of dancers of all ages and skill levels. Whether you're a complete beginner or a seasoned professional, there's a class for you at our dance studio.
Our ballet classes cater to a range of levels, starting from the very basics for beginners and progressing to more intricate steps for experienced dancers. We believe that everyone can learn to dance, regardless of age or fitness level. Not only will our classes improve your stability, coordination, stamina, muscular strength, and flexibility, but they will also introduce you to the beautiful French vocabulary of ballet.
In addition to our regular ballet classes, we offer specialised options to suit different needs. For our older dancers, we have a slower-paced class that focuses on barre and centre work, with a delightful twist at the end – learning adaptations of famous ballets. This class is designed to provide a comfortable and enjoyable experience for those who may prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.
For adult dancers who struggle to find time between family commitments, we have a class that allows you to embrace your passion for dance without sacrificing your other responsibilities. This class is less technically focused and emphasises the fun and enjoyment of ballet, making it perfect for those who want to unwind and have a good time.
At Danceworks Sydney, we're proud to offer Vaganova method classes, which follow the ballet technique and training system developed by Agrippina Vaganova. This method combines the elegance of the traditional French style with the athleticism and virtuosity of the Italian Cecchetti technique. By engaging the entire body in every movement, this training system enhances body awareness, creating a harmonious and expressive range of motion.
For those interested in pursuing ballet exams, we follow the syllabus set by the esteemed Royal Academy of Dance (RAD). Our exams cover various levels, starting from Intermediate Foundation to Advanced. Each level focuses on technique and style, including pointework for our female dancers. While prior completion of RAD examinations is not required, it is important to have an intermediate to advanced level of ballet technique. Exam entry is at the teacher's discretion, and we recommend at least 2 years of training in the syllabus before attempting the exam. However, please note that participating in the exam is not compulsory, and you can still join our classes without taking the exam.
Lastly, we offer a dedicated class on pointework. This class is suitable for dancers who have experience in ballet but may not have ventured into the world of pointework yet. We cover the basics of pointework, focusing on foot strengthening, correct technique, and injury prevention. Whether you dream of dancing en pointe or simply want to challenge yourself and take your ballet skills to the next level, this class is perfect for you.
Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to be a part of our Ballet event at Danceworks Sydney. Whether you're a beginner, an experienced dancer, or somewhere in between, we have a class that will suit your needs and help you embark on an unforgettable ballet journey. Join us and discover the true joy of dance!
