The Geelong School of Dance, a contemporary dance club located in South Geelong, is excited to promote an upcoming local dance event. Offering innovative and creative dance classes, the club caters to primary school and high school students who are interested in exploring the world of contemporary dance.
The Junior & Inter program, crafted for Prep Grade 6 students, welcomes both boys and girls. In this program, students have the opportunity to learn various dance styles while focusing on safe and correct techniques. The dance studio provides a structured yet enjoyable environment, encouraging students to build confidence, self-esteem, make new friends, and feel like part of a dance team. Along with learning dance steps, students are educated on the importance of safe practices, proper technique, and stretching. The music choices are age-appropriate, and the class routines are always exciting and fun, featuring a mix of new, current, and old songs. Genres such as Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Acrobatics, and Circus are available for primary-age students. To showcase their talent, dancers have opportunities to perform in the Mid-Year Showcase and the highly anticipated End of Year Concert, which are the highlights of the dance year.
For high school students, from Year 7 to Year 12, the High School program follows a similar structure and philosophy. This program aims to expose students to a wide variety of dance genres while emphasising safe and correct technique. Creating a nurturing environment, the program allows students to develop confidence, self-esteem, and friendships within the dance team. It also challenges dancers and promotes the importance of safe practices, proper technique, and stretching. As with the Junior & Inter program, age-appropriate music selections are carefully chosen to keep the classes and routines exciting and fun. High school students are also given the opportunity to showcase their talents in the Mid-Year Showcase and the End of Year Concert.
