Dubbo Netball Association (DNA) is a prominent sports club located in the Dubbo City Council region of Australia. Established in 1970 by local high school teachers Jan Foster and Nita McGrath, DNA is one of the longest-running netball associations in the Western Central West area.
At the core of DNA is a dedicated group of passionate volunteers. Coming from diverse backgrounds and professions, these volunteers share a common love and commitment to creating a safe and supportive netball community. They are the heartbeat of the organisation and play a vital role in ensuring the success and growth of netball in Dubbo.
DNA is deeply committed to providing support and opportunities to players, coaches, and umpires at all levels of the sport. The club values skill development and offers various programmes and events to foster growth and improvement in netball skills. Additionally, DNA actively participates in local and state competitions, giving its members the chance to showcase their talent and represent the club.
The club boasts several notable achievements, including the selection of Shelley Hutchinson, one of DNA's umpires, in a targeted group by Netball NSW. Shelley has been chosen to receive expert advice and mentoring as she works towards her A Badge. This recognition is a testament to the high calibre umpiring talent within DNA.
As an organisation, DNA places great importance on transparency and inclusivity. They hold an Annual General Meeting (AGM) where members can participate in decision-making processes and have their voices heard. The AGM is a hybrid meeting, allowing attendees to gather at the Dubbo Netball Association clubhouse or join remotely via Zoom.
Throughout the year, DNA organises various events and activities to engage its members and promote camaraderie. This includes the Dubbo Representative Carnival, which provides a platform for talented netball players to showcase their skills. They also celebrate special rounds, such as the First Nations Round, Crazy Hair & Sock Day, and Pink Day, adding a fun and festive element to the competitions.
For those interested in umpiring opportunities, DNA offers an Expression of Interest (EOI) form to apply for the Dubbo Representative teams. They value the development of umpires and provide avenues for growth and advancement in this crucial aspect of the sport.
