Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, often known as the “fastest growing Martial Art in the world,” is a highly effective and reality-based fighting system. Developed by the Gracie Family, it focuses primarily on ground fighting, as 90% of fights tend to end up on the ground. The goal of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is to put an opponent into compromising ground positions where joint locks and chokes can be applied to force them to submit.

While grappling can seem chaotic to the untrained eye, it is actually a cerebral game of creating traps for your opponents and testing their wits against yours. Your success in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is not defined by your strength, athleticism, or weight, but rather by your ability to understand the challenges in front of you and how to overcome them.

Elite Jiu-Jitsu offers both No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. No-Gi BJJ is generally faster paced and does not rely on the use of a uniform (Gi) for additional control. Instead, practitioners must utilise their body to form wedges and effectively control and submit their opponents. No-Gi BJJ also places more emphasis on attacking and controlling the lower half of an opponent's body, specifically the legs.

On the other hand, Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is taught in the traditional martial arts uniform called a Gi. This style of BJJ allows practitioners to use the material of the Gi to aid in controlling and submitting their opponents. Often perceived as slower paced than No-Gi BJJ, Gi BJJ provides practitioners with more time to think and strategically plan their next moves.
