Emmanuel Boat Club, Hughes Hall Boat Club and Lucy Cavendish College Boat Club

Emmanuel Boat Club, Hughes Hall Boat Club, and Lucy Cavendish College Boat Club are three rowing clubs in Cambridge. Established in 1827, Emmanuel Boat Club (EBC) is open to members of Emmanuel College and has a strong presence in the competitive College rowing circuit. The club regularly participates in the famous Cambridge University bumping races, held twice a year on the River Cam. EBC's top crews also compete outside of Cambridge in the Tideway heads and consistently perform well in the top divisions of the May Bumps.

Hughes Hall Boat Club is another rowing club in Cambridge. Founded in [YEAR], the club welcomes members of Hughes Hall College to join their rowing activities. In Michaelmas Term, the club runs a novice programme where approximately 50% of the Emmanuel fresher intake learns to row. Lucy Cavendish College Boat Club is the rowing club of Lucy Cavendish College in Cambridge. Similar to the other clubs, they welcome both beginner and experienced rowers from the college. Coxing, the role responsible for steering, motivating, and tactics, is also an option for those who may prefer not to row but still want to be involved in the sport. The club's aim is to compete in races and regattas across the country, with the historic bumps races being the main highlight of each term. This unique format involves high-speed chasing races where crews aim to catch the one ahead while avoiding being caught by the crew behind.
