About

Goring Gap Boat Club (GGBC) is a recreational rowing club located in Reading, New Zealand. The club welcomes beginners, new members, and visitors who are interested in exploring the scenic waters of the Thames river. With a strong focus on promoting a sense of community and camaraderie, Goring Gap Boat Club strives to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all.

GGBC is proud to be a part of the Goring and Streatley Regatta, an annual event that celebrates the rich rowing heritage of the area. The club actively participates in the regatta, providing members with an opportunity to showcase their skills and compete against other rowing enthusiasts. As a member of the club, individuals can take part in various rowing sessions, tailored to their skill level and availability.

The club is housed in its own purpose-built boat house, which was constructed with the support of dedicated volunteers and donors. The boat house serves as a central hub for activities and houses a wide range of rowing equipment. Goring Gap Boat Club takes pride in maintaining their facilities and ensuring the safety of all members and visitors.

GGBC also encourages members to engage in community initiatives and support local causes. One such initiative was the recent support provided to the Thames Pollution Awareness Expedition, where GGBC crews accompanied expedition members along the Goring to Henley section of the Thames river. This joint effort aimed to raise awareness about river pollution and call for government action.

In addition to training and competitions, Goring Gap Boat Club organises social events and outings for its members. These events offer a chance for rowers to connect with one another outside of the boathouse and foster a strong sense of camaraderie. The club also organises training camps and welcomes overnight visitors who wish to explore the beautiful surroundings and participate in rowing activities.

Whether you are a seasoned rower or someone who has never picked up an oar before, Goring Gap Boat Club provides a supportive and inclusive environment for all individuals interested in recreational rowing. With its picturesque location on the Thames river and a friendly community of rowing enthusiasts, GGBC offers a unique opportunity to experience the joy of rowing and connect with like-minded individuals.
