Just passing on a note from Pete, the organiser at the Herga Indoor Bowls Club in Wealdstone, Harrow. If you havenât checked it out yet, this place has been buzzing since 1984 with around 320 membersâmen, ladies, juniors, and social members all getting in on the action.
Herga IBC is affiliated with the English Indoor Bowling Association, the Middlesex County Indoor Bowling Association, and the London & Southern Counties Bowling Association. Theyâve got top-notch facilities and a really welcoming vibe for bowlers of every skill level.
One of the coolest things about the club is its full-size indoor green. Weâre talking a 36m Ă 29m space with six rinks. The Greengauge carpet is laid on a wooden floor and meets County standards. They also stretch the carpet at the start of each season and recently installed LED lights to keep everything bright and clear. đ
For those who like to watch the game, thereâs a raised seating area with a bar and dining spot. The bar is stocked and run by volunteers, serving a variety of refreshmentsâperfect for winding down before or after games.
Rinks are typically booked for different leagues and competitions throughout the day. There are options for Menâs, Ladiesâ, and Mixed teams in both fours and triples formats. There are evening leagues too, for those busy during the day. Plus, if youâre just in the mood for a casual game, âroll-upsâ are available anytime.
Peteâs also keen on interclub matches, which are friendly competitions against other clubs and associations. These happen on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekend afternoons. The clubâs teams are pretty active in County and National competitions too.
For anyone wanting to join, Herga IBC is open to both seasoned players and newbies. New players get coaching sessions from experienced county coaches. The subscriptions for the 2023/24 season are ÂŁ140 for full membership and ÂŁ15 for social membership, with special rates for juniors under 18.
