Welcome to JKA Karate Timaru, a martial arts club located in Timaru, New Zealand. JKA karate is a refined martial art that follows the Shotokan style, which has deep roots in Okinawan karate. Led by Sensei Lizelle Pelser, a JKA 6th Dan, our club offers a welcoming space for individuals of all ages to practise and learn the Shokotan style of Karate.
Lessons at JKA Karate Timaru are based on a ranking system and are available for students of all levels, including those who aspire to achieve the prestigious Black Belt. Sensei Lizelle, an experienced and dedicated instructor, leads classes in her dedicated Dojo located at Go Girl Timaru. She also teaches at a National Level, providing students with top-quality instruction and guidance.
Our club places a strong emphasis on the benefits of Karate for both physical and mental health. As a fitness activity, Karate improves aerobic stamina, muscular strength, flexibility, balance, agility, and coordination. In addition to our Karate classes, Go Girl Physique, located at 20 The Terrace, is a health and fitness club exclusively for women. We offer a range of group fitness classes, including online options, to help women achieve their fitness goals and lead a balanced life. Our gym is open Monday to Friday from 6 am to 7 pm and Saturday from 8 am to 11 am, with after-hours access available upon request.
