JUTE KUNG FU is a practise of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for martial arts, healing, and meditation. With roots in Chinese medicine, martial power and philosophy, Jute cultivates and balances intrinsic life energy (qi). Training involves rhythmic breathing coordinated with flowing movement, a calm mindful mind and visualisation for guiding energy through the body.
One of the attractions of Jute Kung Fu is the skilful sequencing of the movements, giving you great insight into the energy flows of the body. Contracting movements that gather energy are followed by expansive movements which release the energy. The releasing of internal blockages, both physical and emotional. When those blockages are removed, the next set of energy gathering movements work at a deeper level.
The next step is to add " intent" to the movements. The practise becomes a mindfulness exercise. .
The Intent combines with the Breath (Qi) – This refers to the level of practise at which the breath coordinates with the movements. At this level, the breath begins to sustain the movements. Because the breath is powering the movements, the muscles can relax.
When the movements combine with emptiness, there is no longer a separation between the practitioner and the present moment. The practitioner is completely in the moment. The duality of stimulus-response is no longer appropriate. The boundary between everyday mind and enlightened mind proves to be very thin.
It is possible to pass over that boundary in an instant.
