Walking has proven to be a wonder drug, as just 30 minutes of walking a day can lower the risk of heart disease, stroke, and diabetes by 30 to 40 percent. Additionally, regular walking can help manage weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol, reduce the risk of developing certain cancers, maintain bone density, and improve balance and coordination, thus reducing the risk of falls and other injuries.
Maria, a group walker, shared her inspiring journey of walking away from a killer. After struggling with weight issues, diabetes, and blood pressure problems for over 40 years, Maria decided to start walking. She initially aimed for 5,000 steps a day and gradually increased it to 15,000 steps a day. As a result, Maria is now officially no longer diabetic and has seen significant improvements in her overall health and well-being.
