Kent Town Swim is a leading sports club in Adelaide, offering a comprehensive range of swimming programmes for all ages and abilities. Located in the newly completed RED Centre at Prince Alfred College, Kent Town Swim is passionate about swimming and is dedicated to providing a safe and enjoyable aquatic environment for all.
At Kent Town Swim, their highly trained instructors and small class sizes ensure that each swimmer receives personalised attention and guidance. With a focus on individual achievement and water safety, the club creates a fun and challenging atmosphere where swimmers can reach their full potential.
The club offers a learning pathway that caters to children's swimming development from as young as 6 months old, all the way through to competitive swimming. Each level has specific milestones to be achieved, allowing new swimmers to easily determine where they should enter the programme.
For infants, Kent Town Swim offers a specially designed Infant Programme that provides a bonding experience for both caregiver and child. The programme uses games, toys, and songs to create a dynamic and colourful atmosphere, allowing children to develop a love for the water. The programme has levels such as Aquababies 1 and 2 for children aged 6 months to 2. 5 years, as well as Starfish and Tadpoles for older children.
The Learn to Swim Programme at Kent Town Swim is designed to teach children the fundamentals of swimming, from the initial stages to the complexities of butterfly. Regular feedback is provided to parents and caregivers on their child's progress, with experienced instructors and supervisors guiding swimmers through the programme. As students develop their swimming proficiency, they move to the main pool to focus on stroke development, technique, and deep water survival skills.
Once swimmers have developed an efficient technique, they have the opportunity to enter the Squad Programme at Kent Town Swim. This programme introduces swimmers to competing and the technical side of swimming, including starts, turns, and tactical skills. The goal is to improve swimmers' speed in all four strokes, enabling them to compete at school and state levels. Squad swimmers also develop independence, confidence, and enjoy the social aspects of swimming in a group atmosphere with peers of similar age and skills.
