About

The Kiyoshin Karate Association, located in Werribee, Victoria, offers traditional and modern karate training for all ages. Founded by Hanchou Aaron Vidakovic, the association aims to provide a safe and healthy training environment while focusing on the concepts of morality and honour within the art of karate.

The concept of Kiyoshin Karate-Do was conceived by a Karate Sensei and his wife during a stay at an Inn in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Japan. They wanted to create a karate style that combined past traditions with modern needs and placed a strong emphasis on morality and honour, which they felt had been neglected in recent times. Thus, Kiyoshin Karate-Do was born.

In 2018, the art of Kiyoshin Karate-Do was brought to Australia and the first black belts were awarded to Aaron Vidakovic, Caitlin Lemmon, Geoff Lemmon, and Daniel Musumeci. This marked the official founding of the Kiyoshin Karate Association, with Aaron Vidakovic as its first leader. The association's primary responsibilities are to maintain the quality of karate training and ensure the satisfaction of its members while providing a safe and healthy training environment.

Kiyoshin Karate-Do is a Japanese style martial art that emphasises approaching training with a clear mind, purposeful movement, and a pure heart. It is heavily influenced by Japanese culture and the teachings of Gichin Funakoshi and Shotokan Karate concepts. The name Kiyoshin Karate-Do translates to “Pure Heart Empty Hand Way” in English.

The Kiyoshin Karate Association offers a variety of training options, including traditional karate, modern karate, sport karate, kobudo, Japanese culture, and health and fitness training. Whether students are seeking a traditional approach or a more contemporary style, they can find a suitable programme within the association.

For further information regarding training times, cost, or class types, individuals can reach out to the Kiyoshin Karate Association through their website. Please note that during the lockdown, the association is currently closed for training.
