Welcome to Leicester Underwater Exploration Club (LUEC), one of the largest scuba diving and snorkelling clubs in the East Midlands. Founded in 1958, LUEC is an award-winning branch affiliated with the British Sub-Aqua Club (BSAC), the UKs leading dive club and national governing body.
LUEC is a non-commercial organisation dedicated to the ongoing development of sub-aqua diving and snorkelling. With a strong connexion to Stoney Cove, the UKs national dive centre, we prefer to conduct our outdoor training sessions and celebrations at this large, inland quarry site.
Our club boasts an active membership base and offers a range of qualifications and courses. We have a group of internationally-qualified, volunteer instructors who provide BSAC snorkelling and dive qualifications, try dives, and ongoing skill development courses (SDCs). Our instructors ensure that members receive the highest quality training and support during their diving journey.
Age is no barrier at LUEC, with our youngest snorkelling member being just 12 years old and our oldest active diver well over 70. We encourage new members to join us at our weekly training and social evenings held at the citys Aylestone Leisure Centre. We also warmly welcome divers from other training agencies such as PADI, SSI, TDI, and NAUI.
In addition to our training and social activities, LUEC organises a variety of regional, national, and international dive trips. We explore a range of dive sites, experiences, and environments suitable for divers of all levels. Our own 6. 8m Rigid Hull Inflatable (RIB) boat is specifically designed for UK diving, allowing us the freedom to dive wherever and whenever we choose.
We also charter boats and have even been involved in discovering, surveying, and adopting uncharted shipwrecks.
At LUEC, we understand that diving is not just a sport, but a community. Our club fosters great friendships and we warmly welcome non-diving family members to join in on club activities.
