Lincoln City Gymnastics Club is thrilled to invite all fitness enthusiasts to our upcoming event! We are a local gymnastics club that has been serving the Lincoln community since September 1984. Founded by the McGuirk family, including Mr. and Mrs. McGuirk and their daughter Deanna Sorrell, our club has a rich history and an exciting future ahead.
Originally located at the City Sports Centre in Lincoln, we eventually made our home at St. Peter and St. Paul’s School in January 2001. However, our journey didn't end there. In January 2018, thanks to the incredible support and donations from local businesses and organisations, as well as the tremendous fundraising efforts of our committee, coaches, parents, grandparents, and older gymnasts, we were able to relocate to our very own dedicated gym on Newark Road in Lincoln.
Our club has always been committed to nurturing talent and producing county champions. We are proud to have played a significant role in training and mentoring parents and former gymnasts to become accomplished coaches themselves. Although we faced a tragic loss with the passing of Mr. McGuirk in December 2017, his memory and unwavering dedication to our club continue to inspire us every day within the walls of our new facility.
After Deanna and her husband moved to New Zealand, Faye Hobday stepped up as our head coach, leading us on a fantastic journey. In June 2017, we welcomed Melissa Clough, a former gymnast herself, as our new head coach. Melissa's immense experience as both a gymnast and coach, combined with her unwavering passion for the sport, has brought renewed energy to our club. Alongside her dedicated coaching team, Melissa is excited to lead and develop our club while maintaining the friendly and welcoming atmosphere we are renowned for.
