Lismore Jiu Jitsu Team

Lismore Jiu Jitsu Team, also known as //LJJT, is a martial arts school located in Lismore, Australia. The school prides itself on maintaining a playful and respectful environment while practising the art of jiu-jitsu, reflecting the overall culture of Lismore. This welcoming atmosphere has helped foster a strong sense of community and has led to the expansion of the //LJJT family.

The school's journey began with coaching jiu-jitsu at PCYC to create training partners for the founder's own children. These classes quickly gained popularity due to their fun and fast-paced nature, prompting the addition of more classes to the schedule. Unfortunately, PCYC was destroyed by the 2022 Lismore flood, leading the school to temporarily relocate to GSAC. Despite the challenges, the school continued to grow and eventually moved to its current beautiful new home in Keen St, downtown Lismore.

//LJJT is proud to be a part of the emerging culture of the post-flood Lismore CBD.

//LJJT offers a range of classes catering to different age groups and skill levels. For kids aged 4 to 8 years, there is the “Scrappers” class, which focuses on movement and play-based activities to introduce them to the sport. The "Grapplers” class, designed for 8 to 12 year olds, adds a bit more structure with the introduction of positional play. For 12 to 16 year olds, the “Troopers” class further develops technical elements and structure in the game.

Lastly, the “Competitors” class is for advanced students who want to sharpen their technique and develop intensity for competitive scenarios.

In addition to regular classes, //LJJT also hosts an Open Source Seminar Series (OSSS) where experts from the jiu-jitsu community in Northern Rivers and South East Queensland visit to share their experience and insights through seminars and open mat sessions. This provides an opportunity for practitioners from all backgrounds to come together and learn from each other.

//LJJT can be found at 96 Keen St, Lismore 2480. The school operates from Monday to Thursday, with varying hours each day.
