About
The Maleny Contract Bridge Club, located in North Maleny, is a welcoming and friendly club that provides a comfortable environment for both members and visitors to enjoy a relaxed game of bridge. With the belief that playing bridge is a valuable exercise for the mind, the club aims to keep its members mentally fit while also offering a great opportunity to meet new friends.
The club operates from its own clubhouse, which is situated on land leased from the Sunshine Coast Council. The premises can accommodate up to 25 tables, and every week, approximately 110 players gather for the play sessions organised by the club. It's worth noting that the club's location may be difficult to find on GPS devices or internet maps, but a map and directions are available on their website for ease of navigation.
The Maleny Contract Bridge Club offers a variety of sessions and events. Regular open sessions are held on Mondays, Thursdays, and the first Saturday of every month from 12:30pm to 4:30pm. There is also a regular open session on Tuesday evenings from 5:30pm to 9:30pm. Additionally, on Wednesdays from 9:30am to 12:30pm, there is a practise/supervised play session available for those looking to improve their skills.
It's important for players to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the starting time of the sessions. Game fees are $5. 00 per session for members and $10. 00 for visitors.
Committee meetings, where significant club matters are discussed, take place on the third Thursday of every month at 4:30pm.
For those new to bridge, the Maleny Contract Bridge Club organises beginner lessons approximately twice a year. The cost is $60, which includes morning tea and a copy of the book “Introduction to Bridge” by Paul Marston. To learn more about these classes, interested individuals can contact Stuart Craig at malenybridgelessons@outlook. Com or call 54942990.
