Marshside Fishery (Wantsum Angling Association)

The Wantsum Angling Association, established in 1983, is dedicated to the sport of fishing. Initially focusing on the River Wantsum, the association later acquired fishing rights to a section of the River Stour at Plucks Gutter and went on to establish and manage three lakes at Marshside. These scenic waters span approximately 7. 5 acres and feature a total of 80 well-spaced swims.

Surrounded by tranquil countryside, fields, and marshland, the lakes at Marshside provide a peaceful and picturesque setting for anglers.

Homersham, Little Homersham, and Scroggins are the three lakes at Marshside, each with its own unique characteristics. Homersham, with 22 pegs, is known as the specimen lake and is home to carp weighing over 30lb (13. 5 kg), as well as Chub, Bream, Tench, Roach, and Rudd. Scroggins, with a similar stock to Homersham, is more suited for match anglers, offering a balance of silver fish.

It is also home to the fisheries' biggest Tench, weighing 12lbs (5. 5 kg), and boasts Perch weighing 3-4lbs, as well as Carp up to 26lb. Little Homersham, with 14 pegs, was originally a stock pond but has been transformed into a thriving fishing spot, offering Carp, Tench, Bream, Roach, Rudd, and Perch.

In addition to the lakes, the Wantsum Angling Association also manages a stretch of the River Wantsum near the village of St Nicholas at Wade. This location provides 30 prepared and maintained swims for anglers. The association also manages a section of the River Stour at Plucks Gutter, which offers 26 prepared and maintained swims along its tidal waters.

For those interested in fishing at the Wantsum Angling Association, day tickets are available for all their waters. These can be purchased in advance from their website or at the bank from their bailiffs. Night fishing is currently restricted to members and guests.
