Meghalaya Cricket Association

Meghalaya Cricket Association was established in the year 1997, coinciding with a time when the popularity of cricket was on the rise in India, especially after the World Cup victory in 1983. Shillong has been the epicenter of cricket in this region since the early 1900s when the British introduced the game in the hills. With a rich tradition and history of cricket for over 100 years, Meghalaya Cricket Association aims to promote and develop the game in all districts of the state, not just in Shillong.

The association reconstituted in 2007 as Cricket Association of Meghalaya, with the goal of reviving cricket in the state and seeking affiliation with BCCI. Through the efforts of players, ex-cricketers, and genuine cricket lovers, Meghalaya Cricket Association has been able to initiate various activities for the welfare and promotion of cricket. In 2018, the association achieved an important milestone when it was granted full membership by the Board of Control for Cricket.

Today, Meghalaya Cricket Association continues to nurture the sport of cricket at all levels, from grassroots to professional. With a strong focus on development and growth, the association is dedicated to fostering a love for the game across the state.
