In the face of life's challenges, just like a mountain stands strong amidst changing weather and circumstances.
Mountain Mindfulness, located in the tranquil suburb of Lenah Valley in Tasmania, is a haven for those seeking balance, peace, and self-discovery through the practise of yoga. Led by the experienced and compassionate yoga instructor, Melissa (Sangita), the studio offers a variety of classes and workshops that cater to individuals of all levels of experience.
At Mountain Mindfulness, Hatha Yoga takes centre stage. Hatha Yoga is a classical style of yoga that focuses on the physical postures (asanas) and breath control (pranayama). Suitable for beginners and seasoned yogis alike, these classes aim to keep the body moving, stretching, and strong. Through the guidance of Melissa, students learn breathing techniques that enhance lung capacity, balance the nervous system, and improve mental focus.
The classes culminate in the deep relaxation of Yoga Nidra, leaving participants feeling calm, rejuvenated, and centred.
In addition to Hatha Yoga, Mountain Mindfulness offers Mindfulness Meditation classes. These classes are designed to cultivate the ability to stay present and let go of the distractions of the past and future. By nurturing the skill of mindful attention, individuals can discover a natural, profound peace in the present moment. Mindfulness Meditation positively impacts every aspect of life, promoting physical well-being, mental clarity, emotional resilience, and spiritual growth.
For those in need of healing support, Mountain Mindfulness provides Yoga for Healing Support. Drawing from the 7 Essential Elements as taught at the Gawler Cancer Foundation, these classes offer a holistic approach to health and well-being. Melissa, who has personally experienced the transformative power of these elements in her own post-cancer journey, guides participants towards reclaiming their health and finding meaning in their lives.
Adding an extra dimension to the practise, Mountain Mindfulness incorporates music as a powerful tool for inner exploration and healing. Led by Melissa, specific music classes, such as Kirtan Workshops, Dances of Universal Peace, and the Belleplates, offer a unique combination of music and movement. The Om Choir, a weekly gathering, provides a nurturing environment where the heart is opened through the harmonious blending of voices.
Melissa, the heart and soul of Mountain Mindfulness, is a highly skilled and passionate teacher. With a deep understanding of the transformative power of meditation, she integrates it into her teachings as a cornerstone for healing. Melissa completed her training in Mindfulness Meditation at the Gawler Cancer Foundation in Victoria and founded Mountain Mindfulness in 2020. Her dedication to her students shines through in her teaching, which is rooted in compassion and understanding.
