Nina Hansen, the founder and instructor of NH Equestrian, has been passionate about the equestrian sport since a young age. She began riding at the age of 5 in the Netherlands and has since gained experience as a stablehand, international groom, and rider. In November 2016, Nina moved to Australia and has worked as an instructor, stablehand/strapper, and trackwork rider before starting NH Equestrian in January 2019.
NH Equestrian's vision is to train horses with patience and effective communication. Nina believes in keeping things simple and positive, handling horses with soft hands to foster respect and understanding. The goal is to have a relaxed, keen, and flexible horse that is attentive and confident in its training. NH Equestrian focuses on problem-solving and analysing the horse's behaviour to understand the nature of any issues that may arise.
Nina does not believe in using gadgets or tools that force horses into certain positions. Instead, she chooses the right exercises and teaches them step by step, giving each horse the time and space to become confident in their abilities. NH Equestrian takes a holistic approach to training, considering the mindset of the horse and prioritising their well-being.
Nina is continually seeking to improve her own knowledge and skills. She believes that there is always room for growth and is committed to learning through courses, lessons, and experiences. NH Equestrian emphasises training with the German training scale in mind and focuses on rider biomechanics to enhance communication and connexion with the horse.
NH Equestrian offers lessons at your location on your horse. Private lessons last for 60 minutes and cost $100. Shared lessons for two riders are $50 per person, with the option of a 30-minute private lesson or an hour-long shared lesson. Shared lessons for three or more riders are $40 per person.
The main goal of NH Equestrian is to create a harmonious partnership between horse and rider by mastering the basic foundation of classical dressage and showjumping skills.
