At Norwich Karate Academy, we follow a world-recognised syllabus endorsed by the Japan Karate Shoto Renmei (JKS), one of the largest and most reputable karate governing bodies in the world. Each grade and belt level achieved at our club is recognised by this prestigious organisation.

In addition to traditional karate training, Norwich Karate Academy also emphasises competition karate. We believe that participating in competitions not only challenges our members on a technical level but also helps improve their overall fitness and skill level. To support this, we hold weekly squad sessions for those interested in pursuing a more competitive path in karate.
Norwich Karate Academy was established in 2021 by Matthew Yardy, a highly experienced karate instructor with a 5th Dan black belt. We are affiliated with JKS England, the English branch of JKS, and a member of the English Karate Federation (EKF), which is the country's largest competition governing body. Additionally, the EKF is a member of the World Karate Federation (WKF), the organisation recognised by the International Olympic Committee.
By merging the traditional ethos and the modern competition style of karate, Norwich Karate Academy offers a comprehensive approach to training.
