About
Prairie Winds Park Swimming Pool, located in Calgary's northeast communities, is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. The park first opened on September 8, 1990, and underwent a significant renovation from 2014 to 2017, bringing added features such as a playscape and an upgraded wading pool. The park spans 16 hectares and offers various amenities for all ages to enjoy.
Due to its proximity to the Calgary Airport, Prairie Winds Park has restrictions on the flying of devices such as kites, model planes, drones, balloons, and any other airborne devices. This policy ensures the safety and enjoyment of all park visitors.
As part of the Provincial Municipal Stimulus Program, a new construction project is set to begin in Prairie Winds Park to provide drinking water hook-ups for food truck vendors in the park. Construction is expected to commence in summer 2021, with plans to create water connections for vendors while still maintaining open spaces for public use. A work schedule will be developed to minimize disruption to important community events held in the park.
