These classes are perfect for pre-school and school-age children starting from two and a half years old. Shawn's Swim School boasts one of the best swimming pools for kids in Melbourne, providing a safe and enjoyable environment. The classes are held on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 12.30pm to 3.00pm, with each class lasting for half an hour.
The beginner classes at Shawn's Swim School are carefully crafted to cater to toddlers who are ready to be taught by someone other than their parent. To ensure optimal learning, the classes maintain a small size, with a maximum of four teachers and four students in our shallow warm pool. Each student receives personalised instruction tailored to their level of competency and pace, fostering their water awareness and building confidence in the process.
To help children acclimate to their new teacher and environment, parents are encouraged to sit at the pool edge during the lessons. Shawn's Swim School's focus is on water safety, confidence, and pure enjoyment. As students progress, they will learn essential swimming techniques such as freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly, while also mastering deep-water swimming. Survival skills are incorporated into all classes, ensuring that children develop a well-rounded set of swimming abilities.
At Shawn's Swim School, we understand the importance of consistent progress. That's why we have a continuous program with only one six-week break coinciding with the school Christmas holidays. This structured approach ensures that children can make steady progress throughout the entire year. Additionally, we have a fair make-up system in place, allowing you to reschedule a lesson with short notice before 10.30am on your lesson day. However, please note that if you cancel later than 10.30am or fail to show up for a lesson, the full fee will be required.
To make things simpler, our fees are pay-as-you-go, meaning there are no upfront fees or deposits. In fact, your child's first lesson is on us, giving you the opportunity to experience the quality of our classes firsthand. Please note that swimming caps are compulsory for all students.
