Welcome to Purbeck Yoga, a serene and welcoming yoga studio located in Swanage, New Zealand. Founded by Jodi Sanders, an experienced yoga teacher with a passion for helping individuals achieve mind-body wellness, Purbeck Yoga offers a variety of classes and workshops suitable for all levels and abilities.

Jodi's personal yoga journey began 17 years ago when she attended her first class with her mother. What started as a complementary practise to her dance studies soon became a transformative experience that provided mental clarity and a sense of grounding. Throughout the years, Jodi has explored various styles of yoga, studying with esteemed teachers in the UK, USA, and Australia. While her personal practise draws inspiration from Hatha Yoga, Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Vinyasa flow, Jodi's teaching approach is non-dogmatic, allowing students to find their own expression of yoga.

At Purbeck Yoga, the emphasis is on mindfulness, breath control (pranayama), and postural alignment. Jodi believes in empowering her students to practise yoga mindfully, using their body awareness to build strength, stability, and flexibility. In addition, she incorporates the healing practises of Pranayama and Yoga Nidra, deep relaxation techniques that promote physical and mental well-being.

One of Jodi's special interests is Pregnancy and Family Yoga. Having completed additional training with Uma Dinsmore-Tuli, Jodi is well-versed in supporting mothers-to-be with safe and nurturing yoga practises. She believes that by creating a compassionate and inclusive space, she can help expectant mothers connect with their bodies, reduce stress, and prepare for childbirth.

As a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT200) with Yoga Alliance, Jodi continuously seeks to deepen her knowledge and understanding of yoga through ongoing education and professional development. She is committed to creating an inclusive and supportive community at Purbeck Yoga, where individuals of all ages, genders, and experience levels can experience the benefits of this ancient practise.
