About

The Queensland Race Walking Club (QRWC) is a sports club based in Brisbane, Queensland. Established in 1955, the club is dedicated to promoting race walking and serving athletes throughout the state. QRWC is also known as Racewalking Queensland and is fully affiliated with Queensland Athletics and Racewalking Australia.

The club welcomes inquiries from walkers all over Queensland and offers assistance in setting up clubs, local competitions, coaching advice, and participation in their activities. They can be contacted at qrwc1@optusnet. Com. au.

Membership registration is open to individuals who are interested in race walking. The annual membership subscription runs from April 1 to March 31 of the following year. The fees for the 2022/2023 season are $15 for students and $25 for non-students. It's important to note that this fee covers QRWC membership only and does not include Queensland Athletics membership.

QRWC organises regular race walking events, and participants are required to register for each event. The race day fees are $5 for all members and $10 for non-members on the day of the event. The upcoming race schedule will be announced for the 2024 season.

The Queensland Race Walking Club has a rich history and has been providing regular road walking competitions since its establishment. The club has had member athletes compete at the State, National, and International levels with distinction. They have also been running State Championships on behalf of Queensland Athletics for many years.

The club has several life members who have made significant contributions to the club and the sport of race walking. They include John Bailey AM, Sid Bray, David Smith, Peter Bennett, Joyce Petfield, Noela McKinven, and Ignacio (Iggy) Jimenez. The Andrew Ludwig Memorial “True Sport Award” has been awarded to Robyn Wales, Ignacio (Iggy) Jimenez, Peter Bennett, and Shane Pearson for their outstanding service to the club and the sport.
